Pope, Addy. (2017). Alcohol Patient Discharge Scotland 2009, [Dataset]. University of Edinburgh. https://doi.org/10.7488/ds/1808.Description
This dataset shows the number of patients discharged from hospital having been admitted for alcohol related problems in 2009. The data includes the number of discharges and the number of patients, the number of discharges being higher than the patient numbers as a patient may be discharged several times but is counted as an individual patient only once. Care must be taken when using the data as hospitals/authorities classify alcohol related admissions in different ways, the numbers are almost certainly an underestimate. This dataset was created from data held in the following report: http://www.alcoholinformation.isdscotland.org/alcohol_misuse/files/alcohol_stats_bulletin_2011.pdf (section 4.1) and then combined with population estimates from http://hdl.handle.net/10672/95 to calculate the rates. Data was joined to boundary data that can be found on the OS OpenData website (http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/opendata/). GIS vector data. This dataset was first accessioned in the EDINA ShareGeo Open repository on 2011-02-25 and migrated to Edinburgh DataShare on 2017-02-21.The following licence files are associated with this item:
