Beyond Humanitarian 'Emergencies'
Data in this collection are part of a collaborative project that analyses 10 years of Anglophone news output to understand whether the meanings commonly associated with the term 'humanitarian' are changing over time and in relation to specific issues (refugees, climate change, CV19), as well as differences between news outlets around the world. The collection includes pre-processed text data that can be used for different types of computational text analysis. The PI for this project is Kate Wright (SPS, University of Edinburgh). The corpus of news was built by Dani-Madrid-Morales (University of Houston), with assistance from the project’s RA, Andrew Jones (University of Leicester). The computational analysis component of this project is led by Anouk Lang (LLC, University of Edinburgh).
